In any case it is worth reminding that the best way to experience Neverwinter Nights is *not* with the single player original campaign.

You may like also the community patch which fixes some bugs and allows you to use a pair of classes that were not released by Bioware even if coded already in the game. I highly recommend these portraits, as at least three of the removed ones belonged to the henchmen in the original campaign. A few have been restored with the EE already, mostly the expansion graphics, but Beamdog could not restore the portraits and icons because they had been removed by Bioware due to copyright issues. It restores some portraits and icons to the original ones shipped with NWN when it came out.

Personally I would advise only this small mod for your first playthrough. However I fear it might need some testing before using it with the EE. If you want an overall improvement there was the grand override compilation of ages which was a comprehensive package. Regardless you will find most mods on the vault rather than on the workshop for the foreseeable future at least, and probably later too. Steam workshop support came only a pair of months ago.
